Why we launched the Powerstack newsletter

CTVC became the reference point for climate tech because we did something simple really well: we cut through a noisy, fast-moving market in a digestible way and uncovered new sectors & topics each week. Now, we’re launching Powerstack to bring that same editorial focus to the power system.

The power sector is in the middle of a structural reshaping. Data center-driven load growth, interconnection bottlenecks, new generation buildout, and rapid policy shifts are all happening at once. But the landscape is fragmented. Practitioners are piecing together their view from LinkedIn hot takes, regulatory filings, earnings calls, and half a dozen newsletters that cover energy broadly but power at the surface-level.

There's no single, trusted source that helps serious power market participants separate what's real from what's hype, understand how policy and infrastructure and capital are interacting, and know what really matters. Think of it as knowing what the traders know.

There's simply too much happening in power to contain it in CTVC alone, it needed its own title. We once coined the Climate Capital Stack. Turns out Power needed its own Stack too. Where CTVC maps the climate tech landscape, Powerstack operates at grid level, scoped around the power system and the moves and motives shaping the load growth era.

Powerstack is Currence (formerly Sightline Climate) putting a stake in the ground: the power system is where the trillion-dollar buildout decisions are being made over the next decade, and that's where we're going deepest.

What Powerstack Is

Powerstack is Currence's new weekly newsletter on the moves and motives shaping the load growth era. Every Thursday, it distills the highest-signal intelligence from Currence's AI-powered platform into the one thing power decision-makers need to know that week -- not just what happened, but who benefits and who's exposed. Plus the hard signals and forward-looking watchlist to act on it.

Who It’s For

Power and utilities, IPPs and developers, power OEMs, infra investors and bankers underwriting the next wave of power assets.

What Readers Get Each Week

  • The one thing that matters each week. Our expert take on the biggest shift in the power markets – whether that’s a FERC ruling, capacity auction, or hyperscaler procurement. With a clear view of who benefits and who should be nervous.
  • The numbers moving the market. The hard signals that matter – investment, PPAs, supply contracts, regulatory moves – anchored by a number and the so-what.
  • What’s on the watchlist. Upcoming filings, auctions, earnings, and regulatory decisions that could impact power assets and strategies.
  • New and upcoming at Currence. Latest research and data drops from the platform, plus events where the power market is meeting.

What Makes Powerstack Different

1. Built on the Currence platform

Most newsletters are assembled by scanning headlines. Powerstack is built on Currence's AI-powered intelligence engine, which tracks 10,000+ signals across the power ecosystem -- curated and distilled by our research team into the handful that actually matter for decisions each week.

2. For the people in the room

Written by our research team for the decision-makers who need to know what a ruling, a procurement, or a capacity auction actually means for their portfolio, their pipeline, or their next board meeting.

3. Data-backed, with a POV

We won’t just tell you what happened, but also who benefits, who's exposed, and why. We're grounded in hard data, but we're not afraid to have an opinion (or name names).

Bonus

And one more thing…we promise you that Powerstack is actually fun to read! If you know CTVC, you know the voice — fresh, fun, and (hopefully) a joy to open every week! We're bringing that same energy to power. Hard data, strong takes, and a briefing that power execs can zip through on the morning commute and actually look forward to.

The Currence Platform Connection

Powerstack is a weekly power briefing built on the same decision intelligence engine that power and utility decision-makers at Southern Company, Siemens Energy, Tokyo Gas, and Global Infrastructure Partners use to shape strategy, procurement, and investment decisions.

Every signal in Powerstack is drawn from Currence's AI-powered tracking of 10,000+ market signals. For Currence clients, each issue is a starting point — they can go deeper into the research, datasets, and analysis behind every signal to validate assumptions, stress-test decisions, and track how competitive positions are shifting.
